Chonlatarn destroys Tino!
23 Feb 2008
WBC#4 feather Chonlatarn Or Piriyapinyo (23-0,12 KOs) impressively scored a fifth round KO over WBO Youth interim champion Amor Tino (reportedly 9-4-1) to retain his ABCO crown on Wednesday at the Town Hall of Bankwao in Chiyaphum Province, Thailand.
This was the sixteenth title defense of the Thai fighter who seized this WBC regional crown on July 2004, defeating Filipino Rolando Gelongco by a unanimous nod. Tino made a good start when he used his effective counterpunches to deny the Thai?s aggression and dominated in the first two rounds.
The show turned to the champion from round three when Chonlatarn speeded his assault and he successfully sent his foe to the canvas with a sharp straight left. After that, the champion obviously controlled show, weakening the Filipino with his vicious conbinations. Finally, the bout was ended when the Thai fighter displayed a one-side attack and closed the show with a big right hook for a full ten count at 2:55 of round five.
In other action, WBC female atomweight titleholder Winyu Paradorngym (6-1-1) outpointed Tukta Sor Ratana (1-2-1) in a six round non-title bout. Winyu looked a little better for her more accurate punches in a very close affair. There was no scoring report but Fightnews saw 58-57 for the WBC champion. Also, WBC youth interim 126lb title holder Thai Tor Silachai (8-1, 5 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over Sornkom Jockygym in a non-title bout. This event was promoted by Ms. Pariyakorn Ratanasuban of Onesongchai Boxing Promotion.
