CHONLATARN ON COURSE FOR WORLD TITLE BID

26 Apr 2009

WBC Asia's bright prospect Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo went another step forward in his world title quest when he comfortably retained his Asian Boxing Council Featherweight title against the tough Indonesian contender Jack Asis.

This contest was a rematch for Jack Asis after he lost by points to Chonlatarn two years ago. Again he proved a worthy opponent but eventually lost by TKO in the 7th round.

On the same card Puengluang Sor Singyoo, the WBC Youth Bantamweight champion, won by a KO in round 5 over the local fighter Petch Sakroongrueng. This was a warm up fight for Puengluang who is scheduled to defense his youth title against Stephane Jamoye from Belgium on the 9 May.
