Kompayak retains title with close points win.

Thai boxing star Kompayak Por Pramook had to dig keep to defend his WBC Asia Light Flyweight title against a gallant and courageous Indonesian boxer Yanus Emuary on 15 September.

Both fighters came well prepared for the championship at Kapon in the Thailand Phang Nga province making weight of 108 pounds.

The championship began sensationally when Emuary knocked down Kompayak in the second round forcing the champion to take the count of eight before finding his fighting feet.

The champion then fought back but Emuary took his chances to take a handy points lead after landing a barrage of aggressive punches in rounds 7 and 8.

Realizing that his WBC green belt was slipping away from Thailand to Indonesia, Kompayak fought back bravely in the final two rounds to eclipse his challenger and snatch a tight points win.

Judges Sanong Aum-Im, Narong Tanboonmee and Chaven Krutket scored the championship in favour of Kompayak 115-112, 115-112 and 114-113.
