SAUL "CANELO" ALVAREZ IS THE LEADER OF THE 2009 BOXING SEASON

The World Boxing Council concept "Boxing Season" is celebrating its fifth anniversary since it was instituted under the leadership of its creator the great Russian boxing commissioner, Edmund Lipinski.

Boxing Season is a point system through which the boxers that are ranked by the WBC get points for every fight held, in the following way:

For different concepts, such as fights, wins, wins by KO, quality of the opponent (ranked or unbeaten), and if it is a title bout.

From January 1st to December 31st there is always a winner in every division and a total winner.

In 2009, up to September 30th things are as follows:

1st place Saul Alvarez (Welter, Mexico) 280 points
2nd place Edgar Sosa (Lightfly, Mexico) 177 points
3rd place Jurgen Brahmer (Lightheavy, Germany) 167 points
4th place Troy Ross (Cruiser, Guyana) 142 points
5th place Jesus Jimenez (Fly, Mexico) 139 points
6th place Gonzalo Omar Basile (Heavy, Argentina) 135 points
7th place Humberto Soto (Superfeather, Mexico) 132 points
8th place Ali Chebah (Superlight, France) 131 points
9th place Robert Stieglitz ( Supermiddle, Germany) 127 points
10th place Gerson Guerrero ( Superfly, Mexico) 124 points
11th place Hozumi Hasegawa (Bantam, Japan) 120 points
12th place Yader Escobar (Straw, Nicaragua) 110 points
13th place Marcos Reyes ( Middle, Mexico) 95 points
14th place Antonio DeMarco (Light, Mexico) 92 points
